Learn to Crochet a Little Heart and a Big Heart

Crocheting hearts is so much fun to do! You can use them for many projects, like sewing them on amigurumi, hats, scarves or any other crocheted project. They also make a nice keychain if you make a little strap for them.

The included diagram makes it easy to crochet these cute hearts with any yarn! The first heart is tiny, and the second heart is a bit bigger. Try them both to see which one fits your project best.

Needed Skills: Magic Ring

To crochet these hearts, you start with a magic ring. If you have never created a magic ring before, please check the video underneath the two heart crochet patterns on this page.

Materials

  • Yarn: You can use any yarn to make these hearts.
  • Crochet hook: Please check the label on the yarn to see which hook size you should use.
  • Scissors
  • Optional: Tapestry needles with blunt point

For reference, I used catania cotton and a 2.5 mm crochet hook to make these hearts.

What Is a Magic Ring?

The Magic Ring (or Adjustable Ring) is used when crocheting in rounds. The advantages of using the Magic Ring is that, once tightened, it leaves no hole in the center of your work.

Video Tutorials

Check the videos below to see how you make a magic ring.

  • In the first video, you can see how you make a magic ring if you are right-handed.
  • The second video was made for left-handed crocheters.

Have Fun With This Heart Project!

You can sew your hearts on many crocheted or knitted projects. If you use sewing thread, you could also sew them on fabric!
