I enjoy writing about a wide variety of topics that draw upon my decades of life experiences. I hope you enjoy reading my articles.

An Example of Chihuly Glass Sculptures

This hub displays photographs I took of Chihuly Glass Sculptures at the Chihuly Glass Display that took place at the Bronx Botanical Garden in New York City in 2006. These Chihuly Glass sculptures are some of the most beautiful pieces artwork I have ever seen. This display of Chihuly Glass Sculptures is especially interesting since it is placed amongst the landscape of the Botanical Garden. It was a beautiful sunny early fall day in early October 2006; perfect weather for viewing the Chihuly Glass Sculptures, since the interaction with sunlight brings out details in the colorful glass sculptures.

Chihuly Glass Sculptures: Some Information About Glass Sculptor Dale Chihuly

The artist who created these beautiful glass pieces is an American glass sculptor named Dale Chihuly, who was born Tacoma, Washington on September 20, 1941. Chihuly has a Master of Science in sculpture from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and a Master of Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design.

In 1976, Chihuly was blinded in his left eye in a car accident that occurred while he was in England. After a bodysurfing accident in 1979, Chihuly was unable to hold a glass blowing pipe and he was no longer able to create glass sculptures on his own. But this incident did not end his career as a glass sculpture artist. He retained other glass sculpture artists to continue his work at his direction. His new role as a creative director overseeing other glass sculpture artists that created the glass sculpture concepts he envisioned allowed him take a broader view of his glass sculpture ideas, and ultimately led to great success for Chihuly as an entrepreneur, with sales of the glass sculptures that he oversaw the creation of reaching tens of millions of dollars by 2004.

For those interested in seeing Chihuly Glass Sculptures in person, his largest permanent collection of work that is available for public viewing is located at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art. Other locations and art museums around the world have smaller collections of Chihuly's glass sculptures. He also has two retail stores, located at MGM Resorts International casinos at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States, and the MGM Grand Casino in Macau, China, where a variety of Chihuly Glass Sculptures can be viewed and purchased.

Interesting hub. He must love doing works for botanical gardens. There are a number of his pieces at the Pittsburgh Conservatory and in the spring I went to Columbus Ohio and there were numerous pieces of his at their botanical garden too. It's all eye candy to me.

These are amazing works of art, so detailed, so expansive. The setting was also quite impressive - an excellent choice of location. Voted up and beautiful.
