How to Draw a Dead Tree
Hi again folks! This is yet another simple drawing tutorial for all you beginner artists to try out. Today, I will be showing you how to draw a withered and dead tree. I do plan on posting another tutorial on how to draw a living tree with leaves as well. But for some reason, I thought I'd start out with this one first since there aren't a lot of tutorials on it yet.
Be sure to have all of your drawing supplies ready before starting on this first step. I hope you guys have fun with this one!
In this tutorial, we are going to start from the bottom and work our way up. I personally find this method slightly easier than starting from the top, the reason being that the bottom is much slimmer than the top. Go ahead and start drawing the bottom portion of the tree as shown on the right.
The main element of this dead tree will be the tree branches. Since there's not a lot more to this type of tree, we're going to just jump right to the branches. I started on the branches to the left first.
Try to add plenty of style and curvature to your branches as well. You're branches can range in various sizes, from small to big, short to small or fat to slim. It's really up to you. :)
This is pretty much the same as above. Just draw in some branches to your tree. Try to make your tree look as full as possible. There are no leaves so it's a bit bare looking to begin with. Make your tree full of branches.
After you have given your dead tree plenty of branches, it is time to move on to the smaller details of the tree, like the wood/age marks.
Draw some age marks on your tree like the example on the right. These are just simple vertical lines all over the tree.
After this last step, that is all! I hope you guys enjoyed this tutorial and I hope you share it with others who may be interested in learning how to draw something new. :)
