Step-by-Step Tutorial to Drawing an Eye

Many artists struggle when trying to draw a character's eye. Don't fret! I created this simple tutorial that I hope will be useful to someone who may be facing this same dilemma.

Note: this tutorial does not teach how to create an anime-style eye, but rather an eye that lies somewhere between cartoon-like and realistic.

Step 1

Step 1

Step 1

Draw a simple line that is arched a bit at the top but circular for the most part.

Step 2

Step 2

Step 2

Draw a similar shape on the bottom side.

Step 3

Step 3

Step 3

Draw the center and corner of the eye similar to the way it looks above.

Step 4

Step 4

Step 4

Start adding little details like the pupil (black in the center) and the glare on the eye.

Step 5

Step 5

Step 5

The iris should have a little detail. Draw in lines all around the eye.

Step 6

Step 6

Step 6

Draw in the top part of the eyelid as it appears above.
