"Phantom of the Opera" Miniature Charms

Deborah is a craft enthusiast. She particularly enjoys creating crafts with a special theme.

Here is a guide to create mask and rose charms. For anyone who is a fan of the novel or Phantom of the Opera musical, a trinket reminder of the tormented musical genius is a must have. These are miniature DIY charms for us dedicated Phantom fans.

Mask and Rose Charm

This craft sets one up to carry the iconic mask with rose in a small bottle.

Materials You Will Need

  • Small glass jar
  • Split ring
  • Polymer clay
  • Miniature rose
  • Black paint
  • Hot glue
  • Gold glitter (optional)

These are gold split rings. I chose gold to match the opera theme, but these rings also come in black and silver.

This miniature glass bottle has a wide lip. It is best to have a wide opening for the mask and rose charm. These craft bottles can be purchased at the dollar tree or craft store.

Step 1: Shape Clay Into Mask

Shape polymer clay into a tiny mask. Be sure to make mask small enough to fit into small jar. Follow the instructions on sculpting and drying polymer clay on the package.

Step 2: Paint the Quark

Paint the quark of small bottle black. Then let it dry.

Step 3: Add Glitter

Add a tiny amount of gold glitter inside of small bottle.

Sprinkle gold glitter inside of the bottle. This step is entirely optional as some may prefer to simply have the mask and rose in the bottle without shimmer.

Step 4: Glue Rose to Mask

Glue miniature rose to the mask. You may have to trim the stem of rose, depending on the size of bottle. Glue the rose on to the back of the small mask. Be sure to glue the stem straight, without an angle, so that mask and rose fit into the bottle.

Step 5: Place Mask and Rose in Jar

Put the mask with rose inside of the jar.

Glue split ring on to the top of quark.

Optional: You may sprinkle gold glitter on drying glue.

Step 7: Add Hot Glue

Hot glue quark into jar, then sprinkle a tiny bit of gold glitter on edge of drying glue. Let dry!

Erik’s letter in a bottle! Here is a charm to carry the mysterious letter addressed O.G. with your Phantom collection.

Materials You Will Need

  • Miniature glass bottle
  • Small piece of thin cardstock
  • Split ring
  • Black paint
  • Small fabric rose
  • Black thread
  • Jewelry and metal glue
  • Gold glitter (optional)
  • Craft glue (optional)

You may buy all these items at the craft store. The tiny fabric rose I purchased at Wal Mart in the sewing section of buttons and other fabric accessories.

Miniature bottle! This is a very small bottle, there is one size smaller but that would be too tiny for this craft.

Jewelry metal glue is a quality way to craft this charm, the glue is strong for tiny things. If you do not have this glue, hot glue will work.

Step 1: Roll Cardstock Into Scroll

Roll a very small piece of thin cardstock into a tiny scroll. It is best to glue paper closed, then tie embroidery thread around scroll. Tie thread twice, then add a drop of glue to attach yarn to paper. Trim excess thread.

Paint quark black. Let dry!

Step 3: Add Gold Glitter and Scroll

Put a tiny bit of gold glitter into the small bottle. Then put the tiny scroll inside the bottle.

Sprinkle a little bit of glitter in bottle and put scroll inside of the bottle.

Step 4: Glue Quark

Glue quark into the top of bottle.

Glue gold split ring on top of the bottle quark.

Optional: Sprinkle gold glitter on drying glue.

Let everything dry. Almost done!

Step 6: Glue Fabric

Glue fabric rose to the top rim of bottle.

This part is optional: I painted the leaves of the fabric rose lime green.
