Looking for Washi Tape Ideas?
If you're looking for some creative ways to make use of your washi tape, then look no further! In this guide, we're going to check out some of the best ways you can make use of your washi tape, from creative crafting ideas to a whole lot more.
Washi tape is incredibly versatile and can be used in a variety of scenarios, so I'm going to show you some of my favourite ways to make use of it!
You can also add some washi tape to the corners of photos for an added creative touch! Washi tapes and deco tapes work beautifully with virtually any photo, and they can add a beautiful touch to your photos.
I usually keep many of my postcards and add them to my wall, but they're not complete without some beautiful washi tape along the corners.
Take a look at an example of the photo below, featuring some serene, blue washi tape adding a nice highlight to the photo.
2. Create Washi Tape Samples
You can also create cute washi tape samples to give to your friends and family also, or keep them for yourself! I've been writing letters to penpals for quite some time now, and I loved sending small washi tape samples in little envelopes to my penpals across the globe.
Craft lovers would adore really these washi samples, and they're a cool and fun gift to give for all occasions, or just a token to show someone you're thinking of them too!
You can create these by wrapping washi tape around a small piece of card, or pieces of plastic. Some of my penpals used to get the floss containers and extract the back of the container; they then wrapped the washi tape around the small piece of plastic! It's a very cool idea and would recommend!
If you're a great fan of journaling or scrapbooking, then you should definitely try adding some washi tape to your journal pages in order to add some magic to them.
I often journal and scrapbook around various themes, so that each page has a unique theme to it. For example, one theme is around floral spring patterns, so I naturally placed a lot of cherry blossom washi tape and sakura style washi tape on my journal pages in order to enhance them and bring them to life.
Adding some gorgeous washi tape on scrapbook photos and on their corners can also work wonders too, they look amazing when added to photos!
Creative Inspiration & Ideas
Try creating a theme, such as with bold patterns or subtle pastels.
Fun, bright colors look great on envelopes!
Solid color tapes look great, as do patterned tapes!
Floral themes can work well, as with patterns too!
4. Wall Art
You can create cool wall art simply with washi tape! If you have any washi tapes around a certain theme, for example floral-themed washi tape or patterned washi tape, you can add small samples of these tape to your wardrobe or wall in order to create some cool art.
I've been doing this for years now, and I've got quite a lot of samples now on my wall!
5. Planners & Bullet Journals
Washi tape can make a lovely addition to any planner or diary too!
I recommend solid colors as well as patterned washi tapes for these, but to be honest, virtually all washi tapes would look great inside any planner. If you're looking for aesthetic washi tapes to check out, make sure to check out this article on cute washi tapes, it's a cool resource with plenty of photos too! I've been referring to it whenever I want to get some new aesthetic washi tapes for use in my bullet journaling.
You could also theme each week, for example, have bright and solid colors one week, and perhaps patterned, geometric washi tapes the next (such as polka dots, stripes and so on). It really is up to your imagination!
It's always renews my creative spirits whenever I add some washi tape to my planners, I've always loved decorating my planners with all sorts of stickers and tapes.
6. Decorate Notebooks
You can also decorate the front of your notebooks too, using a variety of patterns and themes. I would recommend the tapes that have a wider width, in order to add more coverage, since a lot more tape would be required if it has a thinner width. From patterns to floral patterns, it's completely up to your creativity and imagination, the sky is the limit!
For example, bright patterns would look great, or if you want a more subdued look, pastel tones would look beautiful with gentle, floral patterns. You can also decorate the front of your planners, journals and scrapbooks too, using this method!

7. Gift Wrapping, Cards & Envelopes
You can also decorate gifts, cards, and envelopes too! By adding some lines of tape to even plain wrapping paper, it will add a pop of joy to any gift you're hoping to give someone.
By doing so, you'll add a beautiful, creative touch to your gift wrapping, which I'm sure will be greatly appreciated and fondly thought of even in weeks to come!
You could seal your envelopes with washi tapes too, or add some to the flap. If you're hoping to include a name tag on your gift too, that could be added on with washi tape. These will all add a touch of thoughtfulness and show you're thinking of them.
