Adventures in Creativity
I'm a folk artist living in far-northern California close to the Klamath River.
I'm known as Linda Book Lady on YouTube and I also have an art channel there called Adventures in Creativity.
I have a bookish kind of blog at https://lindajomartin.com
I was born in Oakland, California in 1952, the second of four children. We lived in El Cerrito and the El Sobrante section of Richmond. When I left my parents' home I moved to San Francisco for several years living in the Richmond District, Haight Ashbury, Upper Ashbury, Mission District, and on Potrero Hill before I decided to move north to Redding.
In Redding, which is at the upper end of the Sacramento River Valley in far-northern California, I attended college and received a degree in Early Childhood Education at Shasta Community College. I moved south to Modesto, Merced, and Tulare County, being married and having children along the way. I also spent a winter in Tuolumne County near Sonora in the Sierra foothills.
All that time, I wanted to be a writer, but I was so busy it didn't happen in the way I wanted... save for a lot of journaling and letter writing. I also wanted to create art but decided to put that off for my retirement years as I was so busy taking care of my children!
For a few years I worked for the Tulare County Department of Social Services as a welfare eligibility worker, and continually brainstomed ways to become a more productive writer. At that time I wrote a lot of songs, poems, newsletters, articles, and even a few short stories. I also attended college again and got a degree in paralegal studies at College of the Sequoias in Visalia, California.
Years later I moved north to the Klamath River Valley where I finally found the peace of mind to write novels and create folk art.
